LA-TECH.ORG x SNAP INC.

ROLE: VISUAL DESIGNER AND DESIGN SCHOLAR | 2021
DURATION: APPROX. 2-3 MONTHS

During the Summer of 2021 I had the incredible oppurtunity to participate in the 2021 Snap Design Academy hosted by Snap Inc. and LA-Tech.org. My participation within the program was an immense privilege, as I was able to have access to: fireside chats, design workshops, individualized mentorship, support systems, and technology.
Much of my learning were performed when projects required cross-discinplinary teams that enabled me to utilize as much data as I needed to create solutions that addressed complex problems. Some works required the analysis and utilization of large amounts of crowd-sourced data while other projects required intentional communication to create product or services that were free of personal biases. Our projects allowed me to exercise my skills in project management, product research and analysis, and telecommunicative teamwork — all which were new ventures for me. By the end of the program, I was confident in my ability to create product and services that utilize the immense amount of networks available whether its data, people, or experiences.
Below I will showcase my team's Capstone project and presentation that we presented to a Judge Panel and CEO of Snap Inc (2021), Evan Speigal. Our product is a Snapchat AR Lens that addresses Environmental Sustainability within Southern California's most dense concrete jungles.
